INFORMATIVE REFERENCE GUIDE

Width
This refers to the full length of the deck boards across the pallet.

Deck Boards
These are the individual planks that make up the pallet deck, positioned at a right angle to the stringers or stringer boards.

Span
The measurement from the ground to the top of the highest deck boards on the pallet.

Pallet Height
The measurement from the ground to the top of the highest deck boards on the pallet.

Length
The measurement of the stringer or runner from one end to the other

Leads
These are the wider deck boards located at the extremities of the pallet, both on the top and bottom. Opting for a 5.5-inch lead board enhances the pallet’s resistance to forklift damage.
This dimension is standard for GMA-style 48×40 pallets..

Inners
Positioned between the lead boards, the number of inner boards is determined by the required spacing between deck boards. Typically, these boards are 3.5 inches wide.

Spacing
The distance between each deck board varies based on load requirements. Wider spacing can accommodate lighter loads and larger dimensions, potentially reducing lumber costs.
Conversely, smaller items or heavier loads necessitate closer spacing to ensure adequate
support, which means more deck boards will be used.
